Configure Servers
Manage Servers
Shop Manager requires access to an instance of the WSMS6 database. The first time you run Shop Manager you need to enter your connection settings to access the database server.
Click ‘Manage Servers’ from the logon window.
In the Manage Servers dialog, click Add to add a new server or click Edit to edit an existing server.
Some users may be required to connect to more than one server (regional managers, internal auditors, etc.) so Shop Manager allows saving multiple server connections. Repeat the process for each server.
Name – This can be whatever you would like to see when you log in to this server. If you will have multiple server connections, you should use a name that helps you identify each database (like the location of the shop). If you will only be connecting to one server, you can use something like WSMS.
Connection String – This is the database connection information the application will need. Click the Build button to enter the connection string using the Configure Server Settings dialog.
Enter the connection settings for the server where the WSMS database is located. If you are unsure contact your IT Department or the AIC Rail support team.
Click Test Connection to verify your settings.
Click OK when you are finished.
WSMS6 Service – Some features in Shop Manager require an additional server connection, in addition to the database server. Most of the time this additional server connection information can be obtained automatically by Shop Manager, but in some cases, it must be specified manually. If required, specify the endpoint for the WSMS6 Service.
Click Save to save the server settings. When you are finished adding/editing server connections, click Close to return to the Logon window.
Import/Export Server Settings
Once a user has entered the server configuration, they can share that information with other users or devices by using the exporting the settings from their computer and importing those settings on another device.
To export the settings for the currently selected server, click the ‘Export’ button from the logon window or Manage Servers dialog.
When you start Shop Manager, if you have not configured a server you will be prompted to import your settings or to configure manually. To import connection settings exported from another device, browse for the file that was exported. You can also import server settings from the Manage Servers dialog.
