  • Shop Manager version 6.6.4.29

    released November 21, 2023

    Bug Fixes

    • When a user profile was updated by an administrator to require that the user change their password on the next login, the user would get prompted to change their password twice.
    • Editing an assembly with one or more demounted components was removing the Customer from the demounted component.
    • Fixed multiple bugs in the Import System Settings/ Export System Settings feature of the Options dialog.
    • CID and WIP ID values were not being validated for max length. The database fields for CID and WIP ID have a maximum length of 15 characters.
    • When trying to scroll the list of search results, the application would automatically scroll back to the first selected item.
    • The Inspections tab was not including inspections performed on one of the subcomponents if that subcomponent was itself an assembly.
    • Users had no way to edit or view the Comment field for a scrapped component.
    • For companies with multiple shops in the same database, all shops were showing the current users’ list of inspections instead of the inspections for the specific shop.
    • The DefaultValues drop-down in Assembly Builder was not displaying the list of valid values if those values were configured to only be valid for certain conditions.
    • Download Business Rules was removing quotation marks from the Condition expression of business rules before they were saved. This caused any business rules with quotation marks in their expression to not evaluate correctly.
    • Mount History details popup was not using the correct chart settings.
    • When creating new inspection definitions, the user was allowed to create an inspection definition with the same name as an existing inspection definition or sub-inspection definition.
    • For some shops, the search results columns would become misaligned when including fields for subcomponents.

    Updates

    • Expression Editor has been updated to support inspection elements.
    • Shop Manager now requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.
    • When exporting chart data, the time between data points is now included in the export data along with force and distance.
    • Custom Views now support versioning. Users can create new revisions and either set them as the active revision or keep them inactive while they are being developed. You can also roll back to a previous revision by selecting it as the active revision.
    • Add/Edit user dialog was updated to allow specifying the users default culture preference.
    • When viewing the element details for a component, the element ID was removed from the label. Previously each field included the Display Name and the Element ID in parenthesis [ex: Serial Number (C107)]. Since the element Ids are not helpful for most users it was removed from the label. Users can still view the element ID from the tooltip by hovering the mouse cursor over the label.

    Features

    • Label Printing for shipments – When using the Inbound or Outbound features, you can now configure a barcode label that can be printed for each item. The label can be printed when each item is added, or you can choose to print all labels when the shipment is completed. Labels can be re-printed from the component’s Details tab.
    • Save All as PDF feature added to the Inspections tab for a component. This feature loads all inspection records using the custom view that was used to record the inspection and generates a PDF file with each inspection as a separate page. You can also use the Save as PDF option when viewing a single inspection.
    • Physical Inventory – users can now perform physical inventories and compare them to expected inventory, based on the specified query. For example, you can inventory inbound material, finished goods, or even in-progress components.
    • Demount charts – Shop Manager was updated to allow viewing/reviewing the charts recorded when a component is demounted with the new ‘record demount chart’ feature that was added to Component Inspection. This is similar to the mounting charts from WPR or UPR, but they are recorded when a component is de-mounted, rather than when it is mounted.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.64

    released Feb 3, 2023

    Bug Fixes

    • Edit Component Type in the Options dialog was not refreshing business rules or recalls after changes were made.
    • Several bugs fixed in new Custom View Editor, including Inspection Element bindings, non-ascii character’s not being saved correctly (such as Ω), positioning of new items when clicking instead of dragging, etc.
    • When switching between search types (Assembly, Component, Shipping, etc) the date field being used was not displaying to the user, even though there was a specific date field selected by default (typically Last Modified, Date Created, or Timestamp depending on the search type selected).
    • When searching with the Advanced Search, filtering by Shift was returning an error and preventing the user from searching by Shift.

    Updates

    • Custom View Editor received several updates
      • New ‘ShowGridLines’ attached behavior for drawing lines between the rows and columns of a grid. This will require the station applications be updated if using this in your custom view.
      • Added a Notes toolbox item for adding the Notes list and button for showing the Add Notes popup.
      • New Static Controls were added including Border, StackPanel, and GroupBox.
      • Added support for application specific namespaces (WPR, BPR, Component Inspection, etc).
    • Expression Editor was updated with a new ‘block’ editor to make it easier for users to read and modify expressions used in things like Business Rules, Recalls, conditional lookups, etc.
    • Expressions now support c# scripts for advanced expressions like switch statements, if..then..else logic, etc.

    Features

    • Custom Views can now have multiple Revisions including a revision number and notes on what was changed. Users can now create a new revision from an existing revision, delete specific revisions, view the revision history for a view, and make a view Active. Only one revision for a view can be active at a time, and only the active view will be used at a station for new data entry. When editing inspection records the revision used to record the inspection initially will be used when editing an inspection. ***This feature requires a database update before it can be used ***
    • When viewing, editing or creating an inspection in Shop Manager, the Custom View will now be used to display the inspection just at it would appear at Component Inspection. Only users with appropriate permissions will be able to edit or add new inspections from Shop Manager. Users can now also print the inspection as it appears on the screen without requiring a separate report.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.58

    released November 28, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • When setting up a new instance of Shop Manager, users where not able to save the server settings when manually configuring the first server.
    • When modifying a Shipment Configuration, the option to require account locations for only certain accounts was not saving correctly and was instead requiring account location for all accounts.
    • When viewing assembly details after a search, the Errors indicator was duplicating some errors under the assembly and the subcomponents.
    • After the previous update, adding a new user would fail to set the password correctly, requiring users to add the user and then edit the newly added user to set the password correctly.
    • Using a ‘Web Widget’ to display local content that was no longer available (file moved or deleted) would cause shop manager to lock up when loading the dashboard.
    • When using the Manage Dashboards dialog, restoring the user specific dashboard back to the default dashboard failed to restore the default.
    • Placing a ‘Web Widget’ in the bottom right corner of the dashboard would cover the Edit and Add Widget buttons. The Edit and Add buttons have been added to the top of the dashboard next to the Manage Dashboards button. Additionally, right-click options have been added to the dasboard to let you enter and exit Edit mode, or add new widgets.
    • Modifying a component image did not automatically update the assembly configurations because the image was being cached. Users had to restart Shop Manager to see the new image.
    • When importing wheelset data, the mapping template would show duplicate instances of the assembly configurations mappings, instead of just one per assembly type.
    • After a previous update that added a new ‘Description’ field to the Recalls table, users could no longer download updates for recalls unless the database had been updated for the new Description field.
    • Several issues with the Options dialog were fixed

    Updates

    • Custom View editor has been updated with a new drag-and-drop editor which will allow users to re-arrange elements, add new elements, change font sizes, colors, etc. without having to be familiar with XAML syntax.
    • Expression Editor support has been added to all places that allow a ‘Condition Expression’, such as when editing the ‘Calculation’, ‘Hidden’, or ‘Requirement Condition’ of an element.
    • Import and Export of System Settings has been updated to include additional configuration settings such as accounts and locations, assembly configurations, business rules, custom views, dashboards (default groups only), dispositions, images, permission groups, and users.
    • When setting up ‘Condition Expressions’, the expression would fail to evaluate if the case (uppercase vs lowercase) did not match for the component type or element Id.
    • When editing or adding an image, users can now resize, rotate, or flip the image and save their changes.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.46

    released September 1, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • After the previous update, some users could not log in, or did not have the appropriate permissions after login.
    • When creating a new component type from the options dialog, the list of Images was not being populated until after the new component type was saved.
    • When creating a new element from the Options dialog, if an error occurred (like another element already existing with the same element id) the error message was vague and un-helpful in determining the reason for the failure.

  • Shop Manager 6.6.3.45

    released August 29, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • Import and Export of System Settings had issues with image ids not being exported. On import, if the image id was not set, the image was removed from a component type or lookup value. Also, conditional validations on date fields (=today, =now, etc) was being treated as an Excel formula and not exporting or importing correctly.
    • In the Options dialog, when viewing the list of Accounts (customers) all accounts were showing up by default with no way to filter to only show the active customers. The older ‘Manage Customer’ dialog filtered to only show active accounts unless the user explicitly wanted to include disabled accounts. This feature was added to the Options dialog.
    • Login dialog was not resizing properly when using a culture other than English and some text was getting cut off.
    • Manage Component Type dialog was not enabling the save button when adding or editing a business rule or recall. The user had to make another change to enable the save button in order to be able to save their changes.
    • Condition expressions (like business rules, requirements, alerts) that contained NewLine characters (carriage return or line feed) caused an issue preventing the condition from evaluating. The Condition logic has now been updated to ignore all whitespace characters.

    Updates

    • When viewing Assembly details, the Customer assigned to a subcomponent was not visible. For customers that track the owner of individual materials, they had no way of seeing which customer the subcomponents were assigned to without navigating to the individual component.
    • MountStatus search result field was being returned as a numerical value instead of text describing the status of the mount (good, max force exceeded, etc).
    • Users can now create custom queries with parameters for misfit status. Using @misfit or @mountstatus as the parameter name in a query will create a list of the defined mount statuses for the user to filter by.
    • When managing a machine’s settings from the Options dialog, the UnitTime is no longer calculated automatically when the Goal changes. Users must now click the Calculate Unit Time button which will determine the total amount of time defined for the shift (subtracting defined breaks) and divide by the specified Goal.
    • When creating new users, you can no longer include spaces, or certain special characters ( ” \ / : ; | = , + * ? < > ` ~ [ ] )
    • When a user logs in, if their current password does not meet the new Password Strength settings, the user will be prompted to change their password.

    Features

    • Element Alerts – users can now define custom alerts on component or inspection Elements. Alerts can have the following severity:
      • Error – users cannot save the data until the error has been corrected. This is similar to business rules and validations.
      • Warning – users are notified of the alert before saving but are allowed to continue saving their data.
      • Message – no user notification, used for informational purposes only.
    • Password Strength – administrators can now specify password strength requirements to enforce that user’s passwords meet the specified criteria when they set or change their password. You can choose from the following options:
      • Require at least one capital letter (A-Z)
      • Require at least one number (0-9)
      • Require at least one special character (!@#$, etc)
      • Minimum password length

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.35

    released May 3, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • Customer list was always blank when editing a component or subcomponent, preventing users from selecting or changing the customer.
    • Customer field was only being displayed for assemblies, not components
    • OEE Run Rate was not being calculated correctly for shifts that start before midnight (example 23:00 to 07:00).
    • Several menu items were not being localized when a culture other than the default (English-US) was selected.
    • When exporting language resources from the Options dialog, the CSV output file was combining columns, causing issues with editing the CSV and in importing the file back with Shop Manager. Also, the text encoding was not allowing for non-ascii characters such as accents and tildas.
    • Importing language resources was taking a very long time. In some cases it could take 5-10 minutes with no indicator other than a wait cursor.
    • When editing an assembly that had one or more components demount, the Location of the demounted components was being lost.
    • Changes to component Scrap Reasons from the Options dialog were not being saved.
    • Users were unable to add a new Lookup value for element C216 (Bearing Backing Ring).
    • Some users were unable to edit Machine settings form the Options dialog after they configured OEE settings for a machine.
    • Downtime records could not be edited or removed if the Reason was not selected when the downtime event was created.
    • When creating an inspection from Shop Manager, the Save button was disabled if the inspection did not have any elements.

    Changes

    • ‘Inspection Shift’ values are now available in the list of Available Fields for component and assembly searches. You can now return the shift number of an inspection record in addition to the other inspection values.
    • When editing/adding an inspection users can now modify/select the Shift value. Previously the Shift could not be edited, and there was no way to specify the Shift when adding a new inspection.

  • Shop Manager 6.6.3.33

    released April 14, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • Icons to Edit, Delete or Export where missing under reports with no categories assigned.
    • When editing a Shift, the cancel button didn’t undo any changes previously made.
    • Unorganized category list for reports..
    • Adding a new report from the “Download Report” tool, was not updating the list of reports in Main Window.
    • Importing a report that already exists, was leaving the category empty, instead of loading the current category for that report.
    • Shop Manager showed an error on login if culture settings was using anything other than period as the decimal separator.
    • Not being able to save changes in the available fields for searching results.
    • Exporting Search results, included Irrelevant information for the user.
    • Inspection History was not formatting Pass/Fail/Scrap values unless a specific format was set.
    • Shipment types settings allowed you to save two shipments with the same name.

    Features

    • Export Reports
      • Next to Edit and Delete reports, you can now export them and save locally in your computer for further use.
    • Inspection Elements as Search Fields
      • You can now select inspection elements to show in your search screen. This will allow you to see a first glance, if a component has pass or fail a certain inspection or detect if there has been an inspection at all.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.32

    released April 5th, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • For some users, preferences for the selected search result fields and styles were not getting saved after changes were made, causing those changes to be lost when Shop Manager was shut down.
    • The new optional feature for Shipment Business Rules by account was preventing some users from adding components to an inbound or outbound shipment.
    • Previous changes to the Shipment Configuration settings caused errors for users with custom shipment plugins and preventing them from inbounding or outbounding components.
    • When viewing Inspection History of an assembly or component ‘status elements’ (i.e. Pass/Fail/Scrap elements) were not using the default format of “Pass”, “Fail”, or “Scrap” and were showing the raw value of 1,2, or 3 instead.
    • Adding business rules for new shipment types failed to save the business rule until the shipment type had been saved first.

    Features

    • Users can now select inspection element fields when configuring their search results. The value returned is the value of the most recent inspection of the specified type for that component. If multiple inspections are performed on a component only the most recent value is returned. Also, if the same element is used in multiple inspections, only the values for the specified inspection type are returned. For example, if there are inspections for both loose and mounted axle MPI and they use the same “MPI Pass/Fail/Scrap” element, selecting the “MPI Pass/Fail/Scrap” element for loose axle inspection will not be the same for mounted axle inspection, even if the same axle has had both inspections performed.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.28

    released March 29, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • For some users the Shipments query group was including an empty category with non-shipment related queries from the other query groups.
    • Reports in the root directory of the report list were no longer displaying the Edit or Remove buttons.
    • Expression Builder dialog was improved to fix issues when building Recall or Business Rule condition expression.
    • Reports Widget was broken in the last update and did not show the report list once the user clicked to another screen. This has been fixed.
    • Business Rule editor was not saving changes if the user didn’t click out of the textbox before clicking Save.
    • Users were unable to change the component type of an inspection definition from the options dialog.
    • Import Reports dialog would return an error and prevent users from importing a report if the report did not contain the document id and revision in the expected format.

    Changes

    • Download Reports tool was updated to group reports by category and let users select a category for new reports.
    • Users can now edit an existing report to change the report name, category, or description. Use the edit button next to the report in the Reports list.
    • Start of Day setting in the global Shop Settings of the Options dialog was updated to let the user specify the time of day instead of just an offset. Any times entered greater than 12:00 will be assumed to start the day before. For example, a Start of Day set to 23:00 is assumed to start at 11pm the previous day, rather than 11pm of the current day.

    Features

    • Shipment Business Rules now has an editor to let users created/edit their own business rules for shipments.
    • Shipment Business Rules can now be assigned to only specific accounts instead of all customers/vendors. Select a business rule and then select one or more accounts that you want to apply the rule to. By default ‘All Accounts’ is selected. After configuring the business rule accounts, that business rule will only get enforced when adding a component to a shipment where the shipment account is one of the selected customers. To enable this feature a database update is required. Contact AIC Support for more information.
    • Component Recall criteria can now include a Description to let users better identify the reason for a particular recall criteria. This is in addition to the Reference id used to flag recalled components.
    • Users can now export their connection information from the Shop Manager login dialog so they can transfer it to another computer in order to facilitate the setup of a new computer. After running Shop Manager the first time, users are now prompted to import settings from another computer instead of being required to manually configure the connection information. Users can still manually configure settings if they do not have access to the settings of another user.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.25

    released Feb 15, 2022

    Bug Fixes

    • Import of System Settings was failing in some cases and not closing the progress dialog.
    • Editing the list of search fields was preventing the styles from being applied until the user changed to a different search type and then changed back.
    • Split Component Feature was not always assigning the newly created component to the correct assembly in some cases causing corruption or loss of data.
    • Merge Component feature would fail to move inspection records in some cases resulting in loss of the inspection information from the component being merged.
    • Deleting an element that was being used by the Assembly Configuration default values would prevent the assembly configurations from being loaded and prevented the user from viewing or editing an assembly. Even if no components had been saved with that element. Users are no longer able to delete elements if they are used by the assembly configuration or if there is one or more components saved that contain that element.

    Changes

    • Import/Export for Custom Views and Inspection Definitions was lost in a previous update when the settings were moved to the new Options dialog. They have been added back so you can now import/export one or multiple custom views as well as importing/exporting one or more inspection definitions.
    • When editing a component element, including modifying the lookups, there is now a ‘Save all shops’ option. If there are multiple shops configured in the database, this option will apply the changes to the element for all shops instead of just the current shop. To apply the changes to just the current shop continue to use the Save button.
    • In the License Manager of the Options dialog there is now an option to Request a License. Select the type of license, the machine that you want it to apply to (if applicable) as well as the quantity requested (if applicable) and the request will be sent to the AIC Rail Sales team for pricing and follow up.
    • In addition to specifying your shift schedules you can now also specify ‘exceptions’ such as break times, meal times, recurring meetings, etc. This shift information and shift ‘exceptions’ can be used as part of our OEE feature to track equipment efficiency and calculate estimated part counts per shift. For more information about OEE contact AIC Rail.
    • Subcomponent inspection information is now included in the list of available search fields. Previously you could only return the timestamp of an assembly inspection, but not the timestamp of an inspection performed on the axle before it was part of the wheelset.

    New Features

    • New Material Tracking feature lets you specify a list of parts that can be applied to or tracked with a component. For example: nuts, bolts, electrical leads for a motor, etc. You can build the bill of materials at each station as the parts are used and view the total bill of goods for each component in Shop Manager or in report format.
    • New Download Reports tool lets you review a list of reports available for download from AIC. You can see a side-by-side comparison of your current reports and the available reports and see which reports are new to you and which reports you already have need an update. You can download new reports or update your existing reports with just a few clicks. Currently only our ‘canned’ reports are available, but your Custom reports will be included in a future update.
    • Inspections can now be created in Shop Manager. When viewing the list of Inspections for a component or Assembly, in addition to modifying the values for an inspection you can now record a new inspection record. Simply select the type of inspection you want to add and then enter the data.
    • Shipment fields can now be required based on the shipment type. Previous only the Load Number and Customer was required when creating a new Inbound or Outbound shipment. You can now specify which fields to require when creating a new shipment, including customer location, carrier, BOL/Order Number, and etc. This does not currently apply to shipments created from the Windows Mobile Inbound/Outbound applications. Only shipments created in Shop Manager or from one of our Windows desktop/tablet versions of Inbound or Outbound.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.21

    released December 3, 2021

    Bug Fixes

    • When creating a new assembly, Business Rules and Requirements were not updating if the rule depended on subcomponent elements or properties and those element or property values changed.
    • Import ‘Other Components’ was failing to load files exported from another shop after the previous update. Also, the users was not getting prompted to select a ‘template mapping’ so it was not intuitive on how to proceed after the file was loaded. This has been fixed and the user should only need to select a template if there are elements in the file that we are not able to map automatically.
    • Users with personal Chart Setting preferences had no way to revert back to the system settings. Now they are prompted if they click the Chart Settings icon on the charts tab whether they want to revert back to system or modify just their settings.
    • Shared Messages widget was failing to enable the Select Message option in some cases, and causing errors to get logged when Shop Manager first loads.

    Changes

    • Download Business Rules dialog was updated to only show rules that are new or different than the rules already in your system. This should eliminate confusion and help you determine which rules you should include and which rules do not apply to your company.
    • Manage Group Permissions in the Options dialog has been updated to use a more user friendly description for each permission so users can understand what each permission does. The permissions are now also grouped based on functions and ordered alphabetically.

    New Features

    • We have added an ‘expression builder’ dialog to help users create Business Rules and Recalls using a graphical interface. This is an early version and will continue to improve as we receive feedback so please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

  • Shop Manager version 6.6.3.18

    released November 12, 2021

    Bug Fixes

    • Get Support feature was not including the description entered by the user in the email that is sent to AIC Support.
    • Manage Updates dialog was showing Update/Upload Successful messages when using the Upload or Update Now buttons, even if there was an error on the server preventing the upload/update.
    • Chat feature was updated to prevent users from chatting with themselves
    • Shop Settings in Options dialog was updated to only show relevant settings and to allow for data type specific input fields (numeric, date/time, text, boolean, etc).
    • Account Locations that were disabled, were still showing in the list of locations when configuring a new shipment (inbound or outbound).
    • Add assemblies or components to an Inbound shipment was not working for some users converting from older versions of Shop Manager. Each inbound shipment now requires a customized view as well as additional settings. Please contact AIC Support if you need help inbounding from Shop Manager after updating to the latest version of Shop Manager (6.6.*).

    Changes

    • User’s can now have an email address assigned to their profile in the Edit Users dialog. This email address will be used by default when submitting a new support issue using the Get Support feature.
    • Get Support feature now includes a field for an existing support ticket number. If you already contacted AIC about your problem and they provided you a support/incident number, include it in your Get Support request to expedite support for your issue.
    • Additional search result fields were added for Spike Start Force and Spike Height, in addition to Peak Force. For components with SpikeDetection enabled, Peak force is the maximum force value recorded and Spike Start Force is the force when the spike starts. For components without spikes, Spike Start Force and Spike Height will be blank and Peak Force will be the mounting force.

    released October 13, 2021

    Bug Fixes

    • Assembly Configurations list was not scrolling if more configurations exist than would fit on the screen.
    • On the Shared Timer and Shared Messages widgets, the edit button was still visible to users, even if they did not have the correct permissions.
    • Searching for Shipments by Customer was showing an error when changing between shipment queries unless the user selected a different customer.
    • Document Viewer menu was not allowing the list of documents to scroll, preventing users from seeing all documents, if the list contained more documents than would fit on the screen.

    Changes

    • Manage Updates dialog now opens as modeless, allowing the window to float so the user can interact with other Shop Manager windows.
    • Improved startup time by decreasing the timeout interval when connecting to the update service and moving some operations to the background so Shop Manager could continue to load while waiting on the service.
    • An optional database update was causing all subcomponent records to be saved when an assembly was updated (including reviewing charts), even if the user did not enter any data. The issue reported was that a wheelset was showing to have bearings after reviewing charts, even though it had not yet been entered at Bearing Press Recorder.
    • Added an optional email address field to the Manage Users dialog to allow saving an email address for users that can be used by the Get Support feature.

    • Some element requirements were causing an exception and preventing an assembly from being displayed in the search result details view.
    • The popup chart that displays when double-clicking a mounting chart was not displaying the template or data cursor when they were enabled on the original chart that was clicked.

    • The MISIFT label displayed on mounting charts was changed to display below the gridlines and data series so it did not obscure the data series when there was a misfit.
